The driver has now been found following a fatal hit and run accident on Monday.
According to Metro Police, the accident happened at about 11 a.m. on South Rainbow Boulevard near West Warm Springs Road. A dark gray Honda Civic was trying to pass other vehicles and hit 63 year old Michael Grubbs who was pushing his one year old granddaughter in a baby stroller along the side of the road.
Both Grubbs and the baby were taken to University Medical Center. Police said that the baby only had minor injuries but Grubbs was pronounced dead.
The driver did not stop but was believed to be a woman between 20 and 30 years old. However, following news coverage of the accident, a woman who believes it might have been her, has contacted Metro Police through her attorney and says she will turn herself in.
The police have given no further information as the investigation is active and ongoing.
