According to Las Vegas police, a speeding motorcyclist trying to avoid a traffic stop Thursday morning near Flamingo Road and Rainbow Boulevard was critically injured after he crashed.
Police spokeswoman, Laura Meltzer said that officers tried to stop a motorcyclist who was riding an unregistered bike at 10:16 a.m. He subsequently crashed near the Ravenwood Drive and the North Spring Valley Parkway intersection a short while afterwards.
She went on to say that the motorcyclist was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries, and he was later said to be in critical condition after the motorcycle accident.
Witnesses said that the 23-year-old man was riding a 2002 Suzuki GSXR 750 south on Ravenwood approaching a “T” intersection at Spring Valley Parkway and police believe he was speeding.
He then ran off the right side of the road onto the west sidewalk of Ravenwood, fell off his motorcycle and slid on the sidewalk until hitting a stop sign on the northwest corner of the intersection.
