On Monday a man riding an ATV was killed.
According to North Las Vegas Police, the man was found in a drainage ditch at around 4.20 p.m. on Monday near Goldfield Street and Sergeant Jordan Avenue. He was taken to University Medical Center where he died.
The initial investigation shows that he was traveling at a high rate of speed on Goldfield and tried to turn left onto Sergeant Jordan going eastbound. However he could not make the turn and went off the road falling over ten feet into the drainage ditch.
His identity was not immediately released but later the Clark County Coroner’s office identified him as 26 year old Troy Barnes from North Las Vegas. He was a father to a young daughter and an experienced ATV driver.
This is the first fatal crash in North Las Vegas this year.
