Accident on the Airport Connector Leaves Motorcyclist Dead

Early on Sunday, May 17, a motorcyclist died following an accident on the airport connector to McCarran International Airport.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol the accident happened shortly after 2.30 a.m. on the northbound airport connector. A Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling on the freeway and did not stay in his travel lane and then hit the side of a commercial bus north of the 215 Beltway. The rider then lost control and crashed.

The man riding the motorcycle was identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as 25 year old Brandon Phillips of Las Vegas and he was pronounced dead at the scene having suffered multiple injuries. There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash and the driver was not injured.

The freeway was closed for several hours while the investigation and cleanup took place.

Troopers later said that this is a particularly dangerous stretch of road and asked both vehicles and motorcyclists to take particular care.
